Mupirocin 2% 5gm Tube – Mupirocin 2% w/w is a topical cream that is used to treat secondarily infected created traumatic skin lesions due to individual bacteria. Mupriocin topical ointment is used to treat impetigo or bacterial skin infections. A bacterial infection is an illness caused by harmful bacteria growing in or on the body. 

This medicine is very effective in killing bacteria or preventing the synthesis of essential proteins needed for bacteria survival and multiplying. You can gently apply this medication to the affected area. 

How Does a Mupirocin 2% Work?

Mupirocin is an antibacterial ointment used to treat various bacterial infections such as impetigo and secondary skin infections mainly caused by staphylococcus aureus and streptococcus pyogenes. Mupirocin is formulated with a unique chemical structure, and several antibiotic properties to ensure the complete eradication of bacterial infections. Proper application and administration of mupirocin dosage effectively eliminates infectious symptoms and prevents the chances of further infections. 

Uses of Mupirocin 2% 5gm Tube

Mupirocin 2% ointment is a topical antibiotic used to treat various bacterial skin infections. Here are the primary uses of Mupirocin 2% in a 5gm tube:

  • Impetigo: Impetigo is a common and highly contagious skin infection that mainly affects children and infants. It causes red patches on the face due to the presence of gram-positive staphylococcus aureus and group A beta-hemolytic streptococcus. To improve the symptoms of impetigo, Mupirocin works effectively.
  • Folliculitis: Folliculitis is a condition in which the hair follicles become clogged, and inflamed causing infection. It may appear as pimples, red bumps, or pistles on the skin. It can heal with the application of mupirocin antibiotic ointment.
  • Furunculosis (Boils): It is a skin condition in which painful, puss-filled bumps, or boils on to the skin due to the infection of hair follicles. Hence, Mupirocin is effectively treated furuncles.  
  • Infected Eczema: Eczema, is also known as atopic dermatitis. It is a skin disease which causes inflammation, redness, and intense itching. Mupirocin, a steroid cream can help temporarily relieve the symptoms of infected eczema. 
  • Secondary Skin Infections: A secondary skin infection is bacterial and occurs after or during treatment for another skin infection.
