Hydroxyprogesterone comes under the category of synthetic progesterone named progestin. This injection is mainly administered to prevent premature labour. This can be due to several reasons such as rupture of membranes, high blood pressure, preterm labour symptoms, and poor diet.

Hydroxyprogesterone injection is used in premature labour and is a female sex hormone, named progesterone. This helps in lowering the risk of early birth (preterm delivery).
