Hydroxyprogesterone injection is used in premature labour and is a female sex hormone, named progesterone. This helps in lowering the risk of early birth (preterm delivery). Hydroxyprogesterone comes under the category “progestin”, a synthetic female hormone. Premature birth can be caused due to high blood pressure (pre-eclampsia), premature membrane rupture, and unhealthy eating. It usually starts even before the completion of 37 weeks of pregnancy.
